THE GIFT OF ATTENTION

"Did you see Dog from Flanders?" asked Pauline. "Or Notting Hill?" Both of these films were recently enjoyed by the two during their weekly Monday outings. Pauline looks forward to Karen's visits and to time out "on the town." Since neither one is a big eater, they enjoy sharing a sandwich as well as each other's good company. Marshall, who is Pauline's husband, underwent open heart surgery 20 years ago. He is now in frail health and is no longer able to be active outside the home. Pauline states they both have "adjusted" to the move and their new life. For over 25 years Pauline worked as an RN at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita where she was involved in teaching, rather than actual bedside nursing. Marshall, a retired insurance man, is rather familiar with services for seniors, having been a volunteer Meals on Wheels driver for a number of years in Wichita. The couple have been married for 56 years.
