"I appreciate being able to give some of my time to this worthwhile program," said Karen. This kindness and generosity of heart has been practiced and nurtured within Karen's family structure from generation to generation. "My mother did volunteer work and my daughter is involved in community social work," reflected Karen. And Karen herself, in addition to her time given to LIFE ElderCare's Friendly Visitor Program, also volunteers at the Homeless Shelter in Fremont, Washington Hospital and with the Candlelighters.
Volunteering offers
the special gift of giving of oneself. The story of Karen and Pauline
is a reminder that the spirit of caring is alive and well.
