GUARDIAN ANGELS

I love my mother ...but I just can't handle it anymore. And to make matters worse I feel guilty about it. My mother was a loving, intelligent and giving person. After surviving the depression and World War II, she and my father managed to raise 3 children in a loving home. She supported us all. She lived alone for a few years after my father died and then she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Soon, it became apparent that she couldn't live alone and I couldn't bring myself to place her in a facility, so she came to live with us. Things were great in the beginning. I enjoyed caring for my mother. It was my opportunity to give back to her, but now she gets up in the middle of the night and insists on returning home. I don't get enough sleep. I am always listening for her, and she refuses to let me bathe her. She hasn't washed her hair in weeks, and she complains to my friends that I am treating her poorly. I can't handle this behavior. Meanwhile, I have my own children to take care of. I don't know what to do anymore!
