The Sobrato Family Foundation recently awarded LIFE ElderCare a 2:1 Challenge Grant to support general operations and community programming. This is the second Challenge Grant the organization has received from the Foundation during the past three years.
The initial grant amount of $10,000 was received this month. If the organization successfully matches this amount with new or increased cash donations by June 30, 2011, the Foundation will increase the award by another $10,500 resulting in an overall $30,500 increase in funding.
“Donations from individuals and businesses are needed to provide meals to those who are most at risk of suffering from malnutrition,” said Mary M. Anderson, Executive Director of LIFE ElderCare. A Challenge Grant is a grant that is contingent upon new or increased cash funds being raised from nongovernmental sources during the challenge grant fundraising period. Specifically:
- A cash gift from a first time donor will be matched 100%
- A cash gift from a lapsed donor (one who has not made a donation in 12+ months) will be matched 100%
- A cash gift from a current donor (one who has given within the last twelve months) will be matched 100% by the increased portion of their most recent gift
