Our Fall Prevention program works with older adults, in their own homes, to create a personalized physical activity routine that includes aerobic, strengthening, and flexibility components specifically designed to increase mobility. The program is free to Tri-City residents.

Here are some of the benefits of daily exercise:

  • Helps maintain the ability to live independently and reduces the risk of falling and fracturing bones.
  • Can help reduce blood pressure in some people with hypertension.
  • Helps people with chronic conditions improve their stamina and muscle strength.
  • Fosters improvements in mood and feelings of well-being.
  • Helps maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.
  • Helps control joint swelling and the pain associated with arthritis.

What is included in our program and how it works:

  • Personalized in-home exercises.
  • Home safety check, minor home modifications (such as grab bars, hand held shower assists, commode rails).
  • Medication review for possible drug interactions (which are a significant risk factor in falls).

After you enroll, a Certified Fitness Trainer will come to your home to assess your level of mobility and create a personalized exercise routine that you will be expected to practice over a 10 – 12 week period. During this time an LVN nursing student from Unitek College will come by every week to answer questions, provide additional instruction and assess your progress.
